Swansea to Cardiff
Distance about 40Nm
Swansea LW 1000, Cardiff HW 1645. Half spring
Aim to leave Swansea about two hours before low water. Tides in Swansea Bay are not strong so it should take about 2 hrs to reach West Scar cardinal.
From here you will pick up an increasing flood tide and should easily make Cardiff on a rising tide about an hour before HW.
Depending on the weather and sea conditions you might want to stand about a mile off Nash Point to avoid the overfalls.
Call the Cardiff Lock (Barrage Control CH 18) from the Outer Wrack Cardinal. Lock in times are 15 and 45 mins past the hour.
Have fenders and lines prepared port and starboard for the lock.
