35 Nm. H/W Swansea 9.20 8.7m half spring. H/W Tenby 2120

Leave Swansea about one hour before h/w. The counter clockwise tide will carry you towards Mixon Buoy and then pick up the west flowing ebb.

The cut through Helwick sands (A) is the shortest route. A section has been dredged which allows for safe passage in settled weather but if you go

around past W Helwick Cardinal buoy you will pick up a better tide. The tides in Carmathen bay are relatively light.

Be prepared to anchor off at Tenby and enter the harbour h/w -2. Tie up against the wall, a fender board will be necessary and there is limited manouverability. Facilities are in HM building on quay, code entry from HM.

Alternatively go to Saundersfoot. Again, be prepared to anchor off although it may be possible to pick up a buoy. Enter h/w -2 and tie up against wall. No fender board necessary. Facilities in Yacht Club, code entry from HM or a member. More room than Tenby.

Long warps necessary for both Tenby and Saundersfoot to allow for depth of tide.
